Children and young adults are welcome to join in Christ's Church Sunday School during the 10:30 service offered throughout the academic school year.
We believe in building a community at Christ's Church that will bring us closer to living by God's word and love, to look for the good in the world around us and to help those in need.
For infants and toddlers, we have a wonderful room full of toys available during our 10:30 service. It is staffed by a paid adult babysitter and volunteers from our young adults group.
There is also a family area located at the back of the church if you wish to have your young ones with you during service. There are chairs and baby necessities available for your convenience.
For our three to five year olds, we offer a class to help build the foundation for religious education. We follow the curriculum provided by the Episcopal Church "Small Congregation" website for young children. The class is held in a very friendly classroom downstairs and led by parent volunteers.
For our K thru 3rd graders, we offer an interactive felt board program from Beulah Enterprises. Stories focus on the Old and New Testament, Old Testament Heroes and Apostles. In addition, we teach lessons from the Episcopal Church "Small Congregation" website. This class is held downstairs in the Undercroft and led by Parent Volunteers.
For our 4th thru 5th graders, we offer lessons for older children from the Episcopal Church "Small Congregation" website. Lesson plans follow the Revised Common Lectionary and include a reading/discussion, prayer and an activity. Discussions are led by parent volunteers. These classes are held in the church office located on the main level.
For 6th graders and up, we offer "The Journey to Adulthood" which is a complete youth ministry program of spiritual formation. It uses Bible studies, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries and both serious and playful activities to underscore its core principles. These classes are held on the main level in the church meeting room.
*All of our volunteers working with children require a background check.
We can enjoy each other's company outside of church by joining in family outings such as Nature Hikes, Bowling and a Movie night.
Christ Church is town-wide known for its moving and inspirational Christmas Pageant. Children from the Sunday school perform the Christmas Story every year at the Christmas Eve evening service. In addition, the children celebrate a children's service at the end of the school year with a few songs and a children liturgy.
Training is available for children in Elementary school and up to serve as an acolyte during our 10:30 service.
